Getting big things done is never an easy task. With this in mind, you don’t only need all the help you can get, but also all the knowledge you can possibly gather. Everyone has had at least one New Year’s resolution they didn’t fulfill, even with the best intentions. The reasons for this are numerous. First of all, anything that is worth doing is always demanding, which is alone enough to discourage most people. The second, but in no way less important, fact is that this often demands change. If there is anything people fear, it is the unknown. However, where there is a will there is always a way, and all these obstacles, fear can be overcome with the right amount of willpower.
Creating a Clear Goal
To get yourself motivated for greatness you first need to know what exactly greatness is. In other words, you need to know what is it exactly that you want to do. This is why you need to have a clear goal set in front of you, something real, something you can see or vividly envision. It is therefore a great idea to start leading a journal of sorts. Create a scrapbook in which you are going to write down all the things you want to achieve in life. Spoken words can often be forgotten, but once you put something to paper, it will always stay there as a reminder.
Resort to Visual Stimuli
As we have already said, it might be a good idea to resort to visual stimuli as well. For example, if you dream of having a great figure, try to find an image or body shape you believe will look best for you. This way, you can from time to time take a look at it and be instantly reminded of why you are going through all this hard work. Additionally, this also works for certain material things you want to possess, or other life accomplishments. Some might consider this practice nothing more than a waste of time, but the results of this method speak for themselves.
Exercise Your Willpower
The same as any muscle in your body, willpower can be exercised as well. This however, is a bumpy road to say the least. You should start with a 30-day-challenge to beat procrastination. For the next 30 days, set yourself a small (seemingly insignificant) goal every day. These goals can be as simple as making your bed in the morning, mowing the lawn or even contacting a friend you haven’t seen in a long time. In other words, anything you are supposed to do anyway, but just can’t get around to actually doing.
Start Training
One thing is certain, laziness (the greatest adversary of productivity) stems from idleness. This is why you should start using your free time for something productive, like exercising. Regardless if you do it at the gym, having one more beneficial obligation will surely make you more productive. Furthermore, proper exercise will bring along some other perks as well. For starters, you will feel better in your own body, and you will do your health a great favor. Most experts agree, that people who exercise from time to time (even if it is not that frequent) have significantly longer life expectancy than those who avoid doing so.
Eat Better
We have already mentioned the notion of organization, but perhaps we didn’t emphasize just how important it may be. Organizing everything, even your meals, will be extremely useful on your path to greatness. Not only will this make you healthier and more energized, but make you organize your schedule even further. Making a well-balanced, holistic diet will mean doing your body a great favor. Do this, and your body will know how to repay you when the time comes.
Try to Trick your Body into being your Ally
Even though sometimes our body might seem as something mystical or magical, in reality it is all governed by the basic laws of physics, biology and chemistry. With this in mind, there are some methods which may increase the results of all your hard work. For example, raising your testosterone levels might be just the thing you need. Testosterone will help you feel stronger, more energized and even be in a better mood. The best thing however is the fact that the amount of testosterone in your body can easily be elevated even without supplementation.
In the end, the road to success is not something you can find simply. This road doesn’t exist yet, and in order to thread it, you need to pave it first. With this in mind, there is one last piece of advice that might be valuable to you: “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. This is why it is called the present”.
