The written exam includes two papers of 1.5 hours each. The first paper focuses on reasoning and English, aptitude and is not very difficult to clear. IIIT- Hyderabad has a distinct entrance examination known as PGEE and so there is no IIIT Hyderabad cutoff based on GATE scores. However, at times, the interviewer may ask about your performance in GATE so a good score is certainly an added advantage.

The various academic programs that IIT Hyderabad offers are as follows:

• B. Tech programs (B. Tech in computer science and engineering and B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering). In order to get into B. Tech program in IIIT- Hyderabad, the candidate will need to appear for JEE MAIN and then JEE Advanced. Based on the rank in JEE Advance, the shortlisted candidates are called for online counselling. After the seats are allotted to the candidates, the fee along with the required documents is submitted. The candidates applying for B. Tech program in this Institute need to score minimum 75% marks in the 12th Class Examination. For the reserved category students, there is a relaxation of 5% marks.
• M. Tech programs (Computational Linguistics, Computer Science and Information Security, Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI and Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics and Computer Aided Structural Engineering.)
