More than needed student selected
Often a 10-day stint at a coaching centre will help you crack the entrance examinations easily. Of the students who appeared for the DAT, the number of students who will be called for the Studio Test will be thrice the needed number.
Test Pattern
You begin by first attending the Doodling Test. You are given paper and you must make sketches in the blanks provided. Here you must pay attention to the flow of ideas. Keep the presentation contemporary and interesting. Carry the usual things like paper, pencil, eraser, scale, and so on. You could also consider carrying wire, clay, or pliers with you. This will come in useful in the second session.
In the second session, they ask you to do two things. This session takes place after a short 10-15-minute break. The first will test your creative skills. You might be asked to make a basket or a cage. The second part of the test is to make any product with the material (clay, wire, and so on) that is provided.
Students who get through this round will be called for the Personal Interview. That should be within 3-4 days after the Studio Test is over.
Prepare for the Situation Test
The written examination for all the UG and PG programs have concluded on 12 February 2017 for the NIFT design students. The design course aspirants now need to appear for the Situation Test, Group Discussion, and Interview to be held in the April-May 2017 period.
Students have begun their NIFT entrance preparation by consulting seniors at NIFT and taking coaching classes. The Situation Test is to test the creative and innovative skills of the design course aspirants. The students are given selected material such as clay, wires, cardboard, and so on. They need to make a model from the material given.
They, then, need to caption for the model and write a short description. The evaluation of the test is based on the how creative the student is in using the space and colours and pioneering is the use of the composition of the elements and the building skill involved. The overall presentation must have aesthetic appeal.
The final results will be published online during the last week of May – beginning of June 2017. The process of counselling begins from June 2017. Attempt all questions since there is no negative marking in this examination.
