There is only so much you can do to keep your youthful looking skin as you begin to age. It is totally normal to see wrinkles and blotches appear on your face as the years tick by, as we all lose our youthful appearance at some point. However, there are cosmetic tweaks that you can make for healthy ageing that will greatly benefit the way you look.
The beauty industry was once hyper-fixated on creating products that would eliminate wrinkles for good with an abundance of anti-ageing creams being released by an array of manufacturers.
However, there are now more permanent cosmetic solutions available out there that can drastically benefit how you look. With that being said, let’s take a look at six cosmetic tweaks you can make for healthy ageing that will enhance your radiance.
Facelifts
Over the years, our skin will lose elasticity and our muscles tend to slacken. If this is happening to you, it could be an option to get a facelift. This is an operation that tightens and lifts the loose skin of your face, usually below the eyes. Yapa Plastic Surgery says that a facelift isn’t just a procedure – it’s a transformative experience.
You can also get a neck lift, which includes the surgical removal of excess skin and fat from the neck with the aim of addressing wrinkling and creasing in that area.
After your procedure, your face/neck might seem too tight, but it will calm down within six weeks of the operation being completed. Some people have found it difficult to adjust to their new face, so it is important that you give yourself enough time for the procedure to settle so that you can get used to how you look.
Chin augmentation
Chin augmentation, also known as jaw implants, is a surgical procedure which involves inserting an implant along the jawline to give it a more striking appearance. Both men and women who feel as though their chin is starting to recede or look smaller can get the procedure. Getting a jaw implant done can balance out the proportion of all facial features, but most people who get a jaw implant also get a nose job as the nose and chin are considered complementary in terms of the proportion of your face.
You should be able to see the results of your chin augmentation immediately, although there will be swelling and bruising in that area for around a week after the surgery. You should avoid both alcohol and smoking after the procedure to help the healing process.
Botox
Perhaps the most famous cosmetic procedure, botox was FDA approved in 1989 and it quickly became the go-to cosmetic option for Hollywood actors who wanted to freeze the ageing process and eliminate wrinkles for the big screen. The injectable wrinkle muscle relaxer uses botulinum toxin type A, which significantly reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles.
Botox is only currently used to eliminate wrinkles in the area between the eyebrows and around the eyes, although it has also received FDA approval to treat various medical problems, including an overactive bladder, excessive underarm sweating, lower limb spasms and chronic migraines. You should consult your doctor if you suffer from any of the stated medical problems, so they can recommend if getting botox is the right route for you.
After your botox procedure, you should avoid rubbing the treated area or applying any pressure to it. If you do this, the Botox can spread to other areas of the body where it isn’t supposed to go, which can have a negative effect on the results. If you had the injections in your eyebrows, you should also avoid lying down or bending over for three to four hours after the procedure.
Laser skin resurfacing
If you wish to improve your skin texture and appearance, laser skin resurfacing might be the cosmetic procedure for you. It is a type of skin care procedure performed by a dermatologist or physician using either an ablative or non-ablative laser.
If you opt for a CO2 ablative lasers can be used for scars, warts and deep wrinkles. There is another type of ablative laser called Erbium, which is used for finer wrinkles and other superficial skin concerns. Non-ablative lasers don’t remove skin layers, so they are primarily used for rosacea, spider veins and skin conditions related to acne.
The results of the procedure can vary depending on what has been treated, but no matter what you get treated, you can expect the results to last for several years. You will have to repeat the process again at some point to keep the look.
Brow lift
Eliminating forehead wrinkles and easing frown lines are the main benefits of brow lift surgery. The operation involves removing excess fat and skin, as well as tightening the muscles in the forehead. There are a few options you can go with for brow lifts, including coronal brow lift, endoscopic brow lift and temporal lift. Each of these methods are different in how they work, and it is best to consult a professional as to which one would be better for you.
It will usually take around two to three weeks to recover from the surgery and the scares are not very noticeable once enough time passes. In most cases, the surgeon will ensure that the scars are hidden by the hair or follow the natural skin creases.
Lip lift
Lip fillers have become a huge trend among young people in the UK in recent years, as many people want fuller and more prominent lips. In the UK, as of 2021, lip fillers were the most popular cosmetic procedure searched online. However, a lip lift is another surgical procedure that will give you a slightly different look to a lip filler. This procedure shortens the space between the nose and top of the lip, which increases the amount of visible pink tissue, making the lips look fuller.
This is a good option for those who have thin lips but want a more permanent solution. As we get older, our lips naturally get thinner, so it is becoming more common for older people to resort to a lip lift. There are a few different types of lip lifts you can get, including a direct lip lift, subnasal bullhorn, central lip lift, corner lip lift and an Italian lip lift.
It is heavily recommended that you don’t eat or drink anything for 6 hours before the surgery. Doctors will also recommend that you don’t do other things before the surgery, such as smoke for a few weeks, drink alcohol for 48 hours and take aspirin or blood thinning medications for two weeks.
